Workshop on Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking

The Department of Information Science and Engineering organized two-day hands-on workshop on “Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking”. Mr Samarth Bhaskar Bhat, Technical Director, Reverse Engineering Infosec was the Resource Person for the workshop. Dr. Niharika P. Kumar, Associate
Professor, Dept. of ISE was the Faculty coordinator for the workshop.

The first day of the workshop began with the welcome address delivered by Ms. Sakshi, 5th semester student of ISE Department followed by the introduction of the Resource person for the workshop, by Ms. Haritha, 5th semester student of ISE Department.

Day one of the workshop, Mr. Bhat gave introduction about cybersecurity. The event started with basics like what is hacking, few concepts of port numbers and where the passwords of the operating systems are stored and by getting to know the actual difference between a coder and
programmer.

The session continued with few script kidding activities like key loggers, and hacking phones through website like mobile-tracker-free and to check if the phone call can be diverted using very simple tricks, and to check where the email id credentials have been leaked. The students also checked their IP address and learnt how to make their IP address jump over networks.
